What started in June 2001 as a gearbox change due to a weak syncro on 2nd gear led to a complete engine strip when I found
a broken barrel stud. One thing led to another as the end of summer approached and I decided to carry out a complete restoration as the bodywork had a couple of patches of rust, and
I was concerned about the flex in the body whilst on the track.
I soon found out why the body was flexing and what a risk I had been taking thrashing round Goodwood and Castle Coombe! I decided that as both front wings needed replacing and that I wanted to add lightness, the car would become Carrera 3.0 RS replica, with plastic bonnet, front and rear bumpers and flared steel wings to accomodate 8 and 9 inch rims
